On September 15th, the 2023 Asia-Europe Expo and Education International Forum was held in Urumqi, Xinjiang. Professor Liu Hong, President of our University, was invited to attend the opening ceremony and participate in the sub-forum on the high-quality development of international Chinese Education in the International Forum.
With the theme of "Deepening Educational Exchanges, Building a Better Future Together", the 2023 ASEM Education International Forum includes the opening ceremony and the main forum, five sub-forums, the Achievement Exhibition of Xinjiang Universities, and the closing ceremony. Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng delivered a video speech, and Vice Minister of Education Sun Yao attended the meeting. More than 400 people attended the forum, including education officials from Kazakhstan, Georgia and other countries jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as university presidents, experts and scholars from 18 countries.
This sub-forum on the High-quality Development of International Chinese Education is one of the important activities of the 2023 Asia-Europe Expo and Education International Forum. 12 university and secondary school principals, experts and scholars from China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Mongolia were invited to make keynote presentations and exchange speeches. More than 80 guests from 10 countries attended the forum.
In recent years, our university has been committed to promoting the development of international Chinese education in Central Asia, and has established the Confucius Institute of "Breusov" National University in Armenia. At present, the Confucius Institute has three Confucius classrooms and 16 Chinese language teaching sites, with 3,500 registered students. It has successfully promoted the inclusion of Chinese language in the Armenian national education system, helped foreign universities to set up "Chinese language teacher training major", established local Chinese teacher training bases, and achieved full coverage of local Chinese teachers in local primary and secondary schools. In addition, as the chairman unit of the Chinese University Program of the SCO Universities, the University actively serves the educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Central Asian countries, and has established cooperation and exchange relations with 11 universities in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and other countries.
In the future, as the chair unit of the Presidents' Committee of the Chinese Program Institutions of Shanghai He University, we will uphold the cooperation concept of extensive consultation, joint construction, sharing and win-win cooperation between China and foreign countries, continue to promote the high-quality development of international Chinese education in Central Asia, promote diversified cooperation between Chinese institutions and institutions in Central Asian countries, and jointly promote the "Belt and Road" and the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind!
