Recently, the 7th National Symposium on Faculty Development and Teaching Demonstration for Spanish Majors was held at Dalian University of Foreign Languages(DUFL).

The event was organized by the Sub-Committee for Spanish Language Instruction under the National Advisory Board for Foreign Language and Literature Education of China's Ministry of Education, and co-hosted by DUFL's School of European Languages, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, and the National Center for Spanish and Portuguese Teacher Development at Beijing Foreign Studies University.
In his opening speech, Vice President Zhang Guoqiang noted that since its establishment in 2002, DFLU's Spanish program has actively responded to the needs of the Belt and Road Initiative by founding China's first research center on Andean countries in Latin America. Keeping pace with AI advancements, the program has comprehensively transformed its teaching models in the digital intelligence era, significantly enhancing the quality and development of Spanish education.
On the second day, the symposium continued with case studies and in-depth discussions on topics such as "Systematic Writing Competency Development," "Designing 'Foreign Language Plus' Characteristic Courses," and "Textbook Transformation in the New Era." The afternoon featured three parallel forums focusing on "AI-Enhanced Teaching," "Interdisciplinary Talent Cultivation," and "Industry-Education Integration Pathways."
This symposium not only charted the course for the future development of foreign language education at DFLU but also provided valuable methodological and pedagogical insights.
Moving forward, DFLU will continue exploring concrete approaches to AI-empowered language teaching, expanding its "interdisciplinary, international, and application-oriented" talent cultivation model to contribute to the advancement of foreign language education. (By Shi Lin)
