From October 24 to 25, the 2025 National Irish Studies Academic Symposium, themed "Irish Studies in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: New Perspectives, New Topics, and New Approaches," was held at our university. Scholars, experts, and representatives of teachers and students from more than ten domestic and international universities gathered to engage in in-depth academic exchanges and discussions on topics such as Irish literature, language, culture, economy, trade, education, and Sino-Irish relations.

Liu Fengguang, Director of the Irish Studies Center at our university and Vice President, delivered the opening speech. On behalf of the university, she extended a warm welcome to the attending experts, scholars, and representatives of teachers and students, and introduced the distinctive features of our university as well as the development journey of our Irish Studies Center. During the keynote report session, representatives from various universities delivered presentations on topics including the exploration of disciplinary identity in Irish Studies, Irish economy, literature, education, and Sino-Irish relations. In the thematic discussion sessions, scholars from numerous universities, including our own, presented their latest research findings. In the closing ceremony, Vice President Liu Fengguang delivered the closing remarks, highly praising the academic value and outcomes of the symposium. Feng Jianming, Coordinator of the National Irish Studies Discipline Development Alliance and Director of the Irish Studies Center at Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, summarized the conference on behalf of the alliance. He stated that the discussions and outcomes of this conference would provide important references for Irish Studies nationwide, and the alliance would further promote the sharing of research results and collaborative discipline development.
Moving forward, the Irish Studies Center at our university will continue to deepen the integration and innovation of artificial intelligence and Irish Studies, conduct research on major issues in Sino-Irish economic, trade, educational, and cultural exchanges, provide decision-making consultations for the nation and local governments, and contribute "Dalian Foreign Studies University's strength" to promoting mutual learning between Chinese and Irish civilizations and building a community with a shared future for humanity.
