On October 29, a delegation from Irkutsk National Research Technical University (INRTU) of Russia, led by Rector Mikhail Karnyakov and Vice-Rector Stepan Bykov, visited Dalian University of Foreign Languages (DUFL). Wang Weichen Party Secretary of DUFL met with the delegation. Representatives from the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, the School of Russian Studies, the School of Software, and the School of Chinese Language and Culture also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Wang Weichen introduced DUFL’s history, disciplinary strengths, and achievements in internationalization. He highlighted that DUFL’s Russian program is a national-level first-class specialty and a featured specialty recognized by the Ministry of Education. In response to the evolving trends of "New Liberal Arts" and the integration of artificial intelligence, DUFL is actively deepening its "foreign language + specialty" training approach to cultivate more competitive interdisciplinary talents. As a national research university supported by the Russian government, INRTU is an ideal partner for DUFL. Secretary Wang expressed his expectation for a strong collaboration that leverages the strengths of both institutions.
Rector Karnyakov emphasized the growing demand in Russia for high-level professionals proficient in Chinese, amid deepening Sino-Russian exchanges and cooperation. He highly commended DUFL’s profound foundation in language talent cultivation and expressed hope for multi-level and wide-ranging cooperation between the two universities, based on their respective academic advantages.
Following the meeting, the INRTU delegation held separate discussions with the School of Software and the School of Chinese Language and Culture. Both sides reached a consensus on jointly launching collaborative programs and dual-degree initiatives in linguistics.
This visit not only reinforced the consensus built during prior exchanges but also further deepened collaboration in key areas such as scientific research innovation, joint cultivation of interdisciplinary talents, and cross-cultural academic exchanges. It laid a more solid foundation for a long-term, stable partnership between the two universities and injected new momentum into practical cooperation in Sino-Russian higher education.
