Alumni of the Class of 1982 Qin Zhiyou donates the Silver Knight Medal and Gold Officer Medal awarded by the President of the Republic of the Congo; Fellow Alumni Gong Tongjun donates graduation ertificate

Recently, Qin Zhiyou, an alumnus of the Class of 1982 majoring in French at our university, donated the Silver Knight Medal and Gold Officer Medal awarded by the President of the Republic of the Congo. Graduating from the Department of French of our university in July 1986, Qin Zhiyou has been engaged in French interpretation and translation work since graduation. Starting from November 2003, he participated in the African market development of China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation, serving successively as Chief French Translator and Project Manager. He took part in the development and implementation of the 120MW Imboulou Hydropower Hub Project and its supporting power transmission and transformation projects in the Republic of the Congo. For his outstanding contributions to these engineering projects, he was awarded the Silver Knight Medal in 2011 and the Gold Officer Medal in 2017 by the President of the Republic of the Congo. The two medals won by Qin Zhiyou are not only a recognition of his personal outstanding contributions by the Republic of the Congo, but also an acknowledgment of the talent cultivation of Dalian University of Foreign Languages.

Gong Tongjun, also an alumnus of the Class of 1982, donated his graduation certificate. Graduating from the Department of English of our university in July 1986, Gong Tongjun first worked as a translator at the Shenyang Branch of China International Travel Service. Later, he switched from the tourism industry to become an engineer, engaging in the installation, training and maintenance of German machinery. He also managed and operated two companies in Hong Kong and the UK, once serving as Managing Director and Engineer of UK Winhuatai Co., Ltd., and Managing Director of Hong Kong Winhuatai Co., Ltd. Since graduation, Gong Tongjun has always cared about the development of his alma mater. On the occasion of the university's 60th anniversary in 2024, when the university history museum called for the donation of historical relics from all alumni, he donated his treasured admission documents from 1982, including the freshman registration notice, freshman enrollment guidelines and safety guidelines, all of which are now on display in the university history museum.


The medals and graduation certificate donated by the two alumni are all collected and exhibited in the university history museum. With a history of more than 60 years, our university has cultivated over 80,000 outstanding graduates. Alumni of Dalian University of Foreign Languages have made achievements in their respective positions, made positive contributions to society, won widespread praise from the public, and added glory to their alma mater.
