Recently, the achievement exhibition of the first student-themed activity "When AI Meets Intangible Cultural Heritage", guided by the Department of Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education and the Intangible Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, was held in Shanghai. The event was organized to thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on the protection of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and the deployment of the integrated ideological and political education in primary, secondary and higher education.
With solid professional competence and innovative project designs, 13 projects from our university stood out among more than 50 submitted works, successfully shortlisted and won excellent awards. Among them, the ICH project "The Fragrance of Cinnamon Has Lingered for Millennia" from the School of German Studies won the first prize; the ICH project "Millennial Nuo Masks Meet MBTI" from the School of Software Engineering won the second prize; and 11 projects including "Thousand Years of Tie-dye, Craftsmanship in Every Inch" from the School of Chinese Studies won the third prize.
Centered on the theme of "Technology Empowers Cultural Inheritance", the event attracted 7,631 students from 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country, with a total of 5,648 works collected. The entries focused on digital protection of ICH, intelligent design transformation and innovative youth expression, deeply integrating artificial intelligence technology with fine traditional Chinese culture. They covered ICH image reproduction, intelligent modeling of traditional crafts, cultural IP design and communication, and other contents.
Moving forward, the university will further deepen the integration of "Artificial Intelligence + ICH + Ideological and Political Education", expand the space for talent cultivation through competitions, practice and culture. It will encourage our young students to empower cultural inheritance with innovation, showcase the Chinese cultural context through communication, and promote mutual learning among civilizations through exchanges, injecting youthful strength into carrying forward the Chinese cultural context, practicing the concept of innovation and promoting international exchanges.
