According to the official notice from International Council of Chinese Language (Hanban [2014] NO.671), a new Confucius Institute is approved to be established and managed at University of Aveiro, Portugal, the eighth of its kind managed by DUFL.

The Confucius Institute at University of Aveiro is the third Confucius Institute established in Portugal. Preparations and negotiations between University of Aveiro and DUFL are under way, including the forming of the management council, the signing of an agreement, the preparing for the opening ceremony.

Ever since DUFL started a rapport with University of Aveiro in May, 2001, visits and symposia have been conducted by both parties for the purpose of collaboratively establishing a Confucius institute. And more supplements and amendments were worked on and added for the successful application with International Council of Chinese Language. Therefore, the approval of the Confucius Institute at University of Aveiro demonstrates our comprehensive strength in enhancing international education and Chinese learning. And we have every reason to believe that more achievements can be made in the management of Confucius institutes under the consistent support and systematic planning of DUFL management, which accordingly will internationalize our faculty and promote international exchange.
